Baseball Drops Pair to West Chester

WEST CHESTER-- The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped a pair of games to West Chester on Friday by identical 11-1 scores.
In game one, the Huskies trailed 2-0 when it scored in the top of the third inning. Keith Meyer (Richboro/Council Rock South) reached on an error, moved to second on a walk, took third on a throwing error and scored on a ground out by Nick Ferdinand (Bensalem/Archbishop Ryan).
West Chester was able to get to Huskies' ace Grant Kernghan (Upper Darby/Upper Darby) who allowed eight runs, five earned, in five innings of work. Bloomsburg broke up the no-hit bid by West Chester in the sixth when Tony Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock North) singled leading off the inning.
In game two, West Chester led just 1-0 through three innings, but scored 10 runs over the final three innings. Bloomsburg's lone run came when Donofry, who went 3-3 in the game, doubled, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Ward (Clifton Heights, NJ/Monsignor Bonner).
Bloomsburg, 14-26, 5-17 in the PSAC East, will host West Chester on Saturday at 1 p.m.
